Principal Scientist, AI

Rancho BioSciences is seeking a Principal Scientist, AI for a remote position based in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver ML/AI solutions in life sciences
• Lead cross-functional technical teams
• Work with production LLM systems and multi-agent architectures
• Client-facing technical leadership

Must-Have Requirements

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years delivering ML/AI solutions in life sciences
• 3+ years leading cross-functional technical teams
• Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and/or TensorFlow with strong software engineering practices
• Production experience with SQL, Spark, Docker, and cloud orchestration tools (Airflow/Prefect)
• Demonstrated expertise in multi-agent systems and production LLM evaluation
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and vector databases
• Strong client-facing skills and domain fluency with clinical or real-world evidence data standards

Nice-to-Have

• Knowledge graph experience (RDF/OWL, Neo4j)
• Biomedical NLP expertise
• Privacy and compliance knowledge
• Familiarity with multimodal foundation models in biomedical domains
• MLOps proficiency with platforms like AWS SageMaker or Vertex AI
