Director - RNA AI/ML Scientist

Lilly seeks a scientific leader to drive high-visibility research in RNA therapeutics within the Genetic Medicine organization, partnering with experimental and computational teams to advance drug discovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish technical direction for AI/ML models accelerating RNA-based drug discovery
• Build unified modeling platforms leveraging data across programs and modalities
• Integrate large-scale datasets (in vitro, in vivo, ADME/Tox) for biological insights
• Develop AI-driven pipelines for high-throughput experimentation
• Design workflows integrating automated platforms and closed-loop optimization
• Mentor junior computational scientists and build organizational capabilities

Required Qualifications

• PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or related field
• 8+ years pharma/biotech experience with demonstrated AI/ML leadership in drug discovery

Preferred Qualifications

• Track record applying AI/ML approaches to solve complex biological problems
• High-throughput and NGS data analysis expertise
• Python/R proficiency
• Strong communication abilities
• Cloud and HPC environment experience
• Deep RNA therapeutics and molecular biology understanding
• External scientific engagement (publications, presentations, collaborations)
