Senior Scientist, Research (Bioinformatics)

Visterra is a clinical-stage biotech firm developing innovative antibody-based therapies for the treatment of patients with kidney, immune-mediated and other hard-to-treat diseases. The company, part of the Otsuka family, has approximately 105 employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced machine learning and computational strategies, including deep learning, graph-based methods, and probabilistic modeling, to extract insights from genomics datasets
• Analyze single-cell, spatial and genetic modalities data
• Collaborate across scientific teams to extract insights from multi-omic data supporting novel therapeutic development
• Manage high-dimensional data resources
• Communicate complex findings to leadership and colleagues
• Publish research and present at conferences

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science (4+ years experience) OR Master's degree (10+ years relevant experience)
• Expertise in single-cell genomics (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for bioinformatics
• Experience with tools like Seurat and Scanpy
• Familiarity with AWS or comparable cloud services
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
