Associate Director, Computational Biology

Valo Health seeks a leader to guide technical experts in developing quantitative approaches for therapeutic discovery. The role emphasizes applying cutting-edge quantitative approaches to drive therapeutic discovery using the company's AI-enabled Opal Computational Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Mentor early-career data scientists and senior technical experts while fostering collaboration and accountability
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Integrate insights from Statistical Genetics, Real-World Data, and Discovery Biology teams
• Technical Development: Design multi-omic and graph ML analyses of biological data to identify therapeutic targets and biomarkers
• Partnership Management: Align deliverables with partner expectations and maintain high scientific standards
• Strategic Input: Contribute to planning discussions on resource allocation and innovation direction
• Platform Improvement: Work with engineering teams to enhance the computational platform

Requirements

• PhD in Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Bioinformatics, or related quantitative field
• Team leadership experience managing technical environments
• Industry experience leading cross-functional projects
• Expertise in high-dimensional biological data analysis (genomic, proteomic, epigenomic)
• Proficiency with Python/R data science tools (pandas, scikit-learn, tidyverse)
• Git, Confluence, and Jira experience
• Strong communication skills for diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Multivariate causal reasoning experience
• Multi-omics patient sample analysis
• Network analytics and graph ML background
• Cardiometabolic or neurodegenerative disease expertise
• Clinical cohort or Real-World Evidence study familiarity
• Statistical Genetics/GWAS knowledge
