Staff Data Scientist, Computational Biology

Valo Health seeks a Staff Data Scientist for their target prioritization team. The role focuses on delivering strong target candidates and accelerating drug preclinical programs in the immune-cardio-metabolic therapeutic area.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead target prioritization strategy using interpretable machine learning with cell-specific data
• Analyze and integrate scRNAseq datasets for target discovery
• Collaborate with discovery scientists, epidemiologists, and engineers on actionable insights
• Develop novel computational approaches to support research hypotheses
• Support external partnerships and cross-functional communication

Requirements

• PhD + 5 years in computational sciences, computational biology, or related fields
• scRNAseq analysis experience with modern computational methods
• Proficiency in Python, R, GitHub/GitLab
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Published peer-reviewed research demonstrating results synthesis

• Systems biology approaches for multi-dimensional data
• Cellular mixture deconvolution (immune focus)
• Interpretable machine learning expertise
• Multi-omics experience
• Domain knowledge in immune-cardio-metabolic areas
