Senior Machine Learning Scientist, Imaging

Insitro seeks an ML scientist to develop computer vision pipelines for imaging-based phenotyping in drug discovery. The role focuses on extracting disease insights from microscopy data within a cross-functional biotech environment advancing pre-clinical targets in neuroscience and metabolic disease.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with experimental and computational biologists on high-throughput imaging workflows
• Deploy novel computer vision methods including segmentation, feature extraction, and representation learning
• Collaborate with software engineers to build robust, production-ready image analysis tools
• Define performance metrics and conduct benchmarking for solution selection
• Communicate findings through reports, visualizations, and publications
• Identify novel disease phenotypes and propose screening paradigms

Requirements

• Ph.D. in computer vision, machine learning, or related field (or Master's + 2+ years industry experience)
• Strong Python programming skills for TB-scale datasets
• Experience with diverse computer vision tasks and modern deep learning frameworks
• Extensive hands-on experience working with microscopy data
• Collaboration and communication abilities across diverse teams
