Machine Learning Intern (Summer 2026)

Insitro seeks interns to join their compute team as machine learning scientists working at the intersection of ML and life sciences. Interns will partner with a mentor to develop and apply ML methods while analyzing large-scale multi-modal datasets throughout the summer (11-12 weeks).

Potential Project Areas

• Computational Biology: Leveraging transcriptomics resources for disease insights
• Omics & Imaging: Deploying ML approaches for multi-modal phenotypic integration
• Statistical Genetics: Post-GWAS analysis, rare variant methods, longitudinal phenotypes
• Integrative Phenotyping: ML models for clinical imaging and LLM-based medical record analysis
• Molecular ML: Generative models for drug discovery and geometric deep learning
• Computational Microscopy: Novel phenotyping workflows and microscopy optimization

Requirements

• Pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in relevant fields (engineering, computational biology, CS, mathematics, statistics, life science, chemistry, or physics)
• Proficiency in Python
• Strong interest in ML methods for real-world problems
• Curiosity about physiology and disease biology
• High-quality code and documentation commitment

Nice-to-Have

• Biological data experience
• Single-cell RNA-seq analysis skills
• ML frameworks experience (scikit-learn, PyTorch)
• Linux, SQL, Git proficiency
