Job Description

Recursion seeks a Senior Computational Biologist to identify novel therapeutic targets at scale using integrated patient datasets and internal biological data layers. The role bridges computational biology expertise with data science teams, ensuring biological soundness in target discovery pipelines and agentic tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose and validate targets using patient data integration (transcriptomics, genetics, EHR)
  • Collaborate on building semi-automated discovery tools grounded in biological reality
  • Apply statistical methods (causal inference, survival modeling) for target validation
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders for go/no-go decisions

Requirements

  • PhD in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics/Human Genetics with 3+ years biotech or pharma experience OR MS with 5+ years industry focus
  • Deep target discovery and functional genomics background
  • Proficiency in Python and/or R with cloud computing familiarity
  • Extensive experience with transcriptomics, GWAS, and clinical/real-world data
  • Advanced statistical methodology skills
  • Strong cross-functional communication abilities

Nice-to-Have

  • LLM integration and agentic workflow experience
  • Knowledge graph familiarity
  • Oncology or immunology background
