Job Description
Senior Scientist in Computational Systems & Predictive Biology within Amgen's Automation, Research Data Systems, Informatics, and AI (ARIA) organization. Onsite in South San Francisco or Cambridge, MA.
Develop scientific platforms and predictive systems focusing on creating computational models for target discovery and validation across therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop computational systems that standardize data, models, and analytical methods into reusable frameworks supporting discovery across therapeutic areas
- Build canonical data representations across multimodal datasets including perturbation biology and surfaceome features
- Design predictive systems to model molecular and cellular profiles for in silico biological interrogation
- Translate computational models into user-facing tools and platforms
- Accelerate experimental data analysis and guide experimental design for target discovery
- Collaborate with computational and experimental scientists on system design alignment
- Integrate emerging approaches like generative modeling into scalable systems
Basic Qualifications (one of)
- PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, or related quantitative discipline
- Master's degree plus 3 years directly related experience
- Bachelor's degree plus 5 years directly related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong computational biology methods expertise including statistical modeling and AI/ML
- Experience with machine learning for biological data, predictive and generative modeling
- Familiarity with multimodal datasets (transcriptomics, omics, proteomics, genetic/epigenomic data)
- Ability to develop computational abstractions and canonical representations
- Experience building predictive/generative models with limited experimental data
- Track record translating models into adopted tools and frameworks
- Programming proficiency in Python, R, Linux/Unix
- Workflow management systems (Nextflow) and AWS cloud experience
- Publications, patents, or contributions demonstrating computational innovation
