COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY PROGRAM SCIENTIST , Institute for Medical Engineering and Science - Lieberman Lab , will be instrumental in building and maintaining robust computational systems that drive computational microbiology and microbiome science forward; improve our newly released and emerging pipelines (including PHLAME and AccuSNV) to be capable of even greater scale; lead new research projects using these and others tools, and work closely with PI Tami Lieberman on new directions.

REQUIRED : Graduate degree in Computational Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a closely related quantitative field; a minimum of two years of experience with microbial genomics; proficiency in Python; hands-on experience with GitHub; demonstrated expertise with workflow management systems such as Nextflow or Snakemake; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people; and the capacity to translate complex biological questions into actionable computational approaches. PREFERRED : Four years of experience in microbial genomics; experience building conda packages; familiarity with machine learning applications; and knowledge of metabolic modeling.
