Job Description

Stanford University's Department of Ophthalmology seeks a Bioinformatics Core Director to lead bioinformatics initiatives under Dr. Jeffrey L. Goldberg's direction. The role supports Vision Research faculty by contributing to "-omics" dataset projects, including design, data acquisition, interpretation, and publication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct organization-wide data initiatives (models, frameworks, platforms, dashboards)
  • Supervise and mentor analyst teams
  • Extract and maintain data accuracy from diverse sources
  • Design customized reports and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Create statistical analyses, charts, and databases for publication
  • Serve as a resource for non-routine analytical inquiries

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant experience (or equivalent combination)
  • Team direction and supervision abilities
  • Advanced software and coding skills for bioinformatics
  • Strong writing and analytical capabilities

Desired Qualifications

  • Expertise in genome-wide dataset generation and analysis (transcription factors, promoters, enhancers)
  • Published research experience with RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, and related technologies

Salary: $132,498 - $157,989 annually
