Job Description

Vesalius Therapeutics (Flagship Pioneering) is seeking a computational biologist with 5+ years of experience in high-dimensional data analysis. You will report to the Head of Data Science and develop state-of-the-art statistical methods to deliver actionable insights from a population-scale iPSC-based high-throughput phenotyping platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver biological insights into cellular networks, patient biomarkers, and iPSC-based physiological models
  • Write and deploy high-performance code/pipelines for large-scale computation
  • Identify relevant external datasets and new opportunities for internal data generation
  • Integrate with stem cell and biology teams on experimental design and hypothesis generation
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship on statistics and computation to junior data scientists
  • Communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • 5+ years of industry experience analyzing high-dimensional datasets
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Python, R, etc. supported by a public GitHub repository
  • Strong communication skills in writing and speaking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of quantitative genetics in human or model organisms
  • Demonstrated expertise in computation and biology supported by publications
  • Experience developing novel models, algorithms, or software implementations
