Executive Director, Computational Biology

Insmed seeks an Executive Director, Computational Biology on the Biologics Research team. The group develops AI-driven protein design and optimization methods, collaborates with experimental teams to apply them in the discovery of next-generation biotherapeutics, and analyzes resulting data to feed back into models.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide research strategy for AI-based protein design and data science through the lens of biotherapeutic research
• Lead, mentor, and grow two teams of computational biologists (protein design and data science)
• Coordinate collaborations with experimental teams responsible for drug discovery and enabling research platforms
• Guide integration of computation and experiment as the team scales laboratory automation and adopts agentic AI-enabled workflows
• Partner with adjacent computational research groups and IT to develop corporate strategy for advanced computing technologies

Required Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline
• 10 years of experience in computational biology
• Deep expertise in computational protein design
• Proven ability to lead and inspire computational biologists while fostering collaboration with experimental scientists
• Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art deep learning models for protein design
• Skills in analysis, interpretation, and visualization of diverse protein design data; NGS data experience helpful

Salary: $255,000 - $347,500 annually
