R&D Finance Enterprise Partner
Job Description
The Opportunity:
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.
That’s what makes us Roche.
As Roche continues to look for ways to optimize its funds for investment into R&D, Finance needs to take a strong leadership role in the business.
Moreover, as our innovation pipeline grows in its disease therapeutic diversity and technology platforms, Finance must play a critical role in ensuring relentless investments in areas that will drive step change, and be multiplicative rather than additive.
Our R&D Finance Network supports all the core Research business units (pRED, gRED & PD) and is focused on Finance Enterprise Partnering, advocating strong, trustful relationships based on a shared commitment to delivering greater impact for patients.
Our newly created R&D Finance operating model enables Finance Enterprise Partners to work as a network in one team.
R&D Finance Enterprise Partners are business-savvy professionals who can put themselves in the shoes of their stakeholders, as we collectively strive for integrated solutions that bring together elements of our broad offering across Pharma, Diagnostics, and Insights.
They catalyze cross-collaboration between R&D units - which continue to operate autonomously to maximize innovation - and bring a holistic, end-to-end view across the enterprise. Their touch points along the whole value chain combine with a network that can make things happen.
Drawing from a deep well of relevant technical skills, as well as communication and storytelling, they challenge the status quo, have eye-level conversations, and help stakeholders to navigate the polarities of a complex world.
Your main responsibilities are:
Serve initially as a Finance Enterprise Partner to development functions in early stage with the expectation that over time you may go on to support molecule teams and/or other development functions in early and/or late stage
Serve as thought partner and leader in driving value creation, while also driving productivity and transformation initiatives across the teams. Drive transparency and insights to make good business decisions in support of our ambition.
Embrace our new R&D Finance Net work model and advance the collaboration model between eCOE and other Finance units
Build (and dissolve) networks across the organization to drive important business outcomes and initiatives
Seek opportunities to align interests with business need and impact, while committing to action
Who You Are:
To be successful in this role, you bring:
Bachelor degree is required, MA/MBA is a plus
A minimum 5+ years of relevant finance experience, ideally including several years of experience as business partner or global controller
Excellent ability to interact with and influence decision-making at senior management levels, strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to synthesize complex analyses into pragmatic and actionable guidance for business partners
Ability to network throughout a global, complex and matrixed organization and able to bring a dynamic and entrepreneurial mindset, seeking continuous opportunities and improvement
Strategic agility to develop flexible scenarios and solutions; anticipate changing internal and competitive landscapes, envision the future state of finance and the business and lead team(s) to develop and execute long-term initiatives
Passion for the drug development process and ability to work with ambiguity, balancing risk and reward and to take smart risks
Proven record of providing financial stewardship and ensuring Financial governance
Proven leadership and coaching skills with a passion to develop and nurture talent
High motivation to work collaboratively and enable agile ways of working, creative mindset and empowered decision-making
