Machine Learning Research Lead, Alzheimer's Disease Initiative
Job Description
Arc Institute seeks a scientific leader to establish a new ML team within its Computational Technology Center. The role focuses on developing sophisticated machine learning foundation models to capture cell states and infer gene regulatory networks for Alzheimer's disease research.
Responsibilities include building a research team, developing interpretable ML approaches, collaborating with experimentalists on cellular models, and publishing high-impact research.
Key Requirements
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Machine Learning, or related field
- 7+ years relevant experience with minimum 3 years people management
- Expertise in ML applications to biological datasets, particularly single-cell profiling and foundation models
- Strong background in interpretable ML methods (variational inference, causal modeling)
- Advanced PyTorch skills and large-scale model training experience
- Publications in top-tier computational biology/ML journals
- Proven technical leadership ability
- Neurodegeneration/Alzheimer's research background preferred
