Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Veracyte. South San Francisco, CA.

Lead bioinformatics design, development, and validation for regulated cancer diagnostic products using next-generation sequencing technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead bioinformatics design, development, and validation for new and existing products
  • Drive study design and analysis for assay development
  • Develop statistical and machine learning techniques for assay performance evaluation
  • Create scalable, production-grade NGS workflows using AWS and containerized environments
  • Maintain regulatory compliance (CAP/CLIA, FDA, IVDR) with thorough testing and documentation
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions and audits
  • Mentor junior bioinformatics team members

Required Qualifications

  • PhD/MS in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, or computer science
  • 6-7+ years in bioinformatics analysis, algorithm development, and pipeline implementation
  • Deep understanding of NGS technologies and library preparation (WGS, enrichment, RNA-Seq, methylation)
  • Proficiency in quantitative transcriptomics (differential expression, classifier development, RNA signatures)
  • Machine learning expertise and algorithm benchmarking
  • AWS deployment experience (EC2, S3, Step Functions, Batch, Lambda)
  • Strong Python skills with testing frameworks and SDLC best practices
