Senior Director, Immunology Data & AI Systems
Job Description
Johnson & Johnson's Innovative Medicine division seeks a strategic technical leader to deliver data products and associated AI applications aimed at accelerating the Immunology R&D Pipeline. The position reports to the Vice President of Immunology and Cardiopulmonary within Research & Development Data Science & Digital Health (DSDH), leading efforts to develop foundational enterprise data products and deploy AI solutions across the Immunology therapy area.
The leader will standardize and integrate diverse data assets — including preclinical, translational, clinical, competitive intelligence, and real-world evidence — into J&J's enterprise R&D ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead team development of technical requirements for Immunology data products enabling AI applications
- Attract, manage, and retain top talent while collaborating with R&D and technology stakeholders
- Define and maintain roadmaps for Immunology data products spanning discovery through real-world evidence
- Partner with Knowledge Management and Data Governance teams for enterprise integration
- Develop and deploy scalable AI solutions for immunology research
- Contribute to Immunology ontology development for semantic consistency
- Establish governance models and agile delivery processes with value-tracking metrics
- Champion data literacy adoption within the Immunology therapeutic area
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics
- Minimum 10 years post-academic industry experience
- Experience with diverse, high-dimensional datasets including multi-modal Immunology data: omics, imaging, translational, clinical trial, and RWE data
- Extensive experience creating scalable data-driven solutions across the full lifecycle
- Strong people leadership in matrixed organizations
- Deep knowledge of data products and database design
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical technology sector experience
- Familiarity with immunology ontology standards and frameworks (CDISC, GA4GH, FHIR, NCI Thesaurus)
- Demonstrated ability influencing stakeholders and driving adoption across complex organizations
Compensation & Benefits: Base pay range $196,000 to $342,700. Eligible for an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) and pension, vacation up to 120 hours annually, sick time up to 40 hours, and 13 paid holidays.
Locations: Spring House PA, Cambridge MA, Titusville NJ, Raritan NJ, or San Diego CA (hybrid; on-site presence required, no fully remote option).
