Oncology DMPK department

The Oncology DMPK department provides drug metabolism & pharmacokinetic, as well as translational PKPD modeling & simulation support to our portfolio.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Scientists, Translational PKPD Modeling & DMPK you will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in PKPD modeling and simulation to advance our understanding of cancer biology and accelerate drug discovery.

Your day-to-day role is to provide projects with specialist modeling input into exploring the PK/PD/Efficacy in pre-clinical models and using these models to iteratively build an understanding of the dose & schedule requirements for therapeutic intervention across different patient populations as a single agent and combined with other agents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Oncology DMPK, providing scientific leadership in cross-functional and external collaborations.
  • Develop and utilize PKPD models to explore the effects of target and pathway modulation, defining candidate drug target profiles.
  • Predict human dose and regimen, contributing to exposure and pharmacodynamic biomarker-based decision-making for early clinical trials.
  • Drive learning through back-translation of clinical exposure and pharmacodynamic data, offering strategic options for future clinical testing.
  • Present findings through publications, patents, and lectures, enhancing the visibility of AstraZeneca’s translational research.

What You Bring

  • Ph.D. in Modeling & Simulation, systems biology, quantitative pharmacology, pharmacometrics, (chemical) engineering, physics, pharmaceutical sciences, or applied mathematics.
  • Relevant industry experience in Modeling & Simulation, ideally in preclinical/translational setting.
  • Experience in a project-facing role within pharmaceutical R&D.
  • Strong understanding of DMPK and pharmacology in drug discovery.
  • Proficiency with tools such as WinNonLin/Phoenix NLME, NonMem, Berkeley Madonna, MATLAB, and SimCYP.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with a passion for collaborative problem-solving.
