Job Summary
SummaryThe Research Assistant will work with Dr. Vikram Khurana and Dr. Julie Price on collaborative studies at Massachusetts General Brigham, Harvard Medical School. Our group investigates alterations in brain function, structure, and molecular pathology in normal aging, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Down Syndrome. Our multi-modal imaging datasets include positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) datasets. This position requires data analysis skills to perform data management duties for neuroimaging datasets, to help develop and test neuroimaging methods needed to achieve research project completion. The candidate will provide high level neuroimaging support and develop tools to further automate laboratory processes and analyses.
The position provides assistance to the Principal Investigator and Study Team in coordinating research activities that may include conducting a variety of routine experiments with established methodologies, data collection and management, and other research activities as assigned.
Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelor's degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem) to provide degree equivalency verification

Essential Functions
-Work directly with the Principal Investigators and Project Manager to automate data management tasks.
-Oversee the coordination of pilot/sub-studies and working with the program manager/PIs to ensure study targets are met.
-Work closely with Principal Investigators and Project Manager, will manage and implement rigorous quality assurance protocols across assigned studies.
-Servr as an interface among two primary lab groups and related collaborators.
-Ensure that imaging data is being appropriately captured, stored and processed.
-Manage researcher access to raw and processed imaging data as well as measures derived from neuroimaging data
-Development, implementation, and documentation of any machine learning based methods for automation of neuroimaging processing.
-Assembly of datasets used for methods development and training
-Oversee the day-to-day functioning of in-house neuroimage processing pipelines, providing high level support and troubleshooting problematic cases, for assigned studies
-Research, assess, and implement analytic tools and approaches (predominantly using R and Python and Matlab).
-Work with researchers to develop and implement statistical data analytics and visualizations in service of research aims.
-Work with researchers to provide consultation and drafting of methods sections for manuscripts/abstracts and preparation of related scientific manuscripts/abstracts.
-Maintain data management databases and assisting with related administrative tasks
-Responsible for data collection, management, manipulation, analysis, and reporting.
-Study cohort management.
-Outreach communication with subjects, conducting mailings, follow-up on mailings, and obtaining necessary documents.
-Provides assistance on work related to epidemiological studies and other population-based research.

B.A/B.S. with background in pre-med, psychology, neuroscience or related field required.

-1+ years of experience is preferred.
Experience with Neuroimaging research is highly desirable.
-Ability to work well independently and as a member of the team, prioritizing work according to and within established study protocols.
-Ability to oversee the work of students and volunteers.
-Strong technical skills, and comfort with scripting (e.g. shell, python, matlab, R, etc).
-Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people in person and on the telephone.
Must be able to relate well with subjects, physicians, technologists and administrators.
-Ability to navigate initial learning curve and work under stress and within deadlines
-Proficiency with MS office with one or more of the following: Freesurfer, MRI, MATLAB, MySQL, Linux
-Advanced computer skills, with the ability to manipulate large and varied datasets.
-Strong neuroimaging skills.
-Statistical proficiency.
-Proficiency with R, Python and MATLAB.
-Exposure to machine learning tools (e.g. pandas, numpy, RStudio) preferred.
-Careful attention to detail and strong quality control skills
-Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
-Computer literacy, including database tools.
