Job Description

Scientist I performs scientific experiments under the general supervision of senior scientific staff, while using independent judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Focuses mainly on problems of moderate scope, in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Contributes technical proficiency and scientific creativity. Works both collaboratively and independently.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope in which analysis of situation or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Works under general supervision. Latitude for independent judgment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Moderate skills with high level of proficiency. May consult with senior peers on general projects.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Four to five years experience post bachelors degree preferred.
