In a highly collaborative environment, the successful applicant will:

  • Implement various computational frameworks/analysis strategies for multiple ongoing and emerging genetics and genomics projects in Alzheimer disease, substance use disorders, and age-related macular degeneration involving high-throughput, next generation sequencing (NGS) datasets (e.g. DNA-genome, transcriptomic, epigenomic, and proteomics data).
  • Direct the development and maintenance of genome-wide association and genomic analysis pipelines and the implementation of various analysis strategies.
  • Under the guidance of a faculty supervisor, carry out risk prediction analyses utilizing genetic, clinical, demographic, and other risk factor data.
  • Respond to requests for analysis from faculty, postdocs, and collaborators; and collaborate with them in interpretation of data, and in the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and presentations.
  • Train students, postdocs and faculty in pipeline use; and test and utilize new software and tools, modifying them as needed to adapt to specific research needs.
  • Prepare tables and figures for manuscripts that report results from data analyses.

Required Skills: Strong programming and analytic skills in R and Python or Perl, strong scientific writing skills, and three years relevant work or graduate education experience. Biological/Statistical knowledge preferred but not required.
