Johnson & Johnson MedTech is recruiting for our Research & Development summer internship located in Jacksonville, FL.

Research, innovation, and new product development is our focus.

With a powerful mission to change the trajectory of eye health, our Vision organization is committed to understand the challenges impacting patients and apply deep science and engineering to enable innovative solutions. We provide our patients with a new horizon through our ACUVUE® family of contact lenses and our wide portfolio of intraocular lenses (IOL) and vision surgery technology.

Summer interns will partner with teams of scientists and engineers to expand our deep technical capabilities and develop new products aimed at meeting a variety of eye health needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a project assignment involving an eye health product (spanning early research to pilot/commercialization stage), an enabling technology, or our internal operations that enable research and development.
  • Perform deliverables involving fundamental statistical research, clinical data analysis, and/or simulation studies.
  • Work closely with other technical disciplines.
  • Review progress and evaluate results of project(s) across various functional groups.

Target Hire Date: 5/17/2027

Target End Date: 8/06/2027

Qualifications

Education

  • Completed at least 1 year of graduate school in a PhD program in Statistical Sciences/Biostatistics or related fields program. Candidates at the end of their program are desirable.

Experience and Skills

Required

  • Some experience with SAS and/or R is required.  Solid knowledge of programming in R is desirable.
  • Basic proficiency in data analysis methodologies.
  • Open to learn new statistical skills and ready to think out-of-the-box for problem solving solutions.
  • Some knowledge of random effects models is required, and meta-analytic methodologies are preferred (e.g. Random-effects meta-analysis, Network meta-analysis).
  • Interest and aptitude to build simulation code.

Key activities

  • This position will provide exposure to different statistical aspects related to analysis of clinical trials data, and marketing efforts.
  • Evaluate a range of meta-analytic methodologies to illustrate their assumptions, strengths, limitations, and suitability for selected clinical research questions and endpoint types.
  • Develop validated and reproducible R and/or SAS code to implement selected meta-analytic methods.
  • Opportunity to develop presentation skills and expand statistical technical skills.

Candidate Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must

  • Be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
  • Remain actively enrolled in their academic program throughout the entire internship period.
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Should have a minimum GPA of 3

Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.  Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
