Overview

Alnylam is seeking anAssociate Director, Laboratory Informatics Platformsto lead the strategy, roadmap, delivery, and operational stewardship of core laboratory informatics capabilities across Research and Early Development (ReDev) and CMC. The role will own all aspects of product and technology lifecycle forelectronic lab notebook (ELN), sample management, entity registration, workflow orchestration, and instrument data capturecapabilities for ReDev and CMC.  The role with work closely with stakeholders in scientific and technical operations and technology product owners in IT Quality Technology (e.g., LIMS), to translate business needs into scalable, compliant, and fit-for-purpose digital solutions that improve data quality, traceability, workflow efficiency, and user experience across ReDev, CMC, and QC environments to realize business priorities. The platform landscape developed by the Laboratory Informatics Platforms lead must also efficiently support target architecture, secure solution integration, future analytics and data exploration, and AI-enabled use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead platform strategy and delivery.Translate scientific and technical operations needs into roadmaps, requirements, priorities, releases, change controls, and lifecycle standards for scalable laboratory solutions across ReDev and CMC.
  • Integrate laboratory workflows and data.Connect experiments, samples, entities, instrument data, and results across ELN and related platforms. Align master data, vocabularies, data models, orchestration, and integration patterns to improve traceability, efficiency, usability, and downstream analytics.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery.Partner with Lab Computing and Facilities Technology on instrument connectivity, deployment, and support; Quality Technology on QC requirements, compliance, and LIMS integration; and Data and AI, Infrastructure, Security, business teams, and vendors on secure, scalable enterprise alignment.
  • Ensure compliance and sustainability.Work with Quality and validation teams to meet compliance and data integrity standards, support validated system lifecycle practices, and maintain audit readiness and long-term platform sustainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, life sciences, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10–12 years of laboratory informatics / biotechnology / pharmaceutical experience inResearch and/or CMC areas
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional business, IT, and vendor teams to translate business needs into system designs and solutions which achieve key business outcomes
  • Experience developing strategic roadmaps and delivering / managing the lifecycle of ELN, sample management, entity registration, or related laboratory platforms
  • Experience delivering laboratory digital solutions governed by GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, computer system validation (CSV), and ALCOA+ data integrity principles
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; track record of effective technology product decision making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Experience with laboratory workflow orchestration, cross-platform integration, instrument data capture, scientific data standards and data models, and SaaS platform ecosystems
  • Experience in RNA interference (RNAi), oligonucleotide, or other advanced-modality environments
  • Experience integrating laboratory platforms with a QC LIMS

The pay range below reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
