Join BioTeam – Where Technology Supports Scientific Discovery

At BioTeam, part of n² Group, we help leading life sciences and biomedical research organizations solve complex scientific computing challenges, enabling researchers to focus on what matters most: advancing scientific discovery.

Since 2002, we've partnered with academic medical centers, research hospitals and research institutes across the US, bringing specialist expertise in high-performance computing (HPC), data management, cloud technologies and research IT infrastructure.

Our work is varied, technically challenging and meaningful. From modernizing bioinformatics pipelines to improving the performance and flexibility of scientific computing environments, we help our clients make the most of their technology and support cutting-edge research.

You'll be part of a collaborative team where knowledge is shared, ideas are welcomed and learning from one another is part of everyday working life. Working alongside experienced BioTeam engineers, you'll have opportunities to develop your technical skills, broaden your expertise and learn from colleagues who are passionate about what they do. You'll tackle interesting challenges, contribute to meaningful projects and be supported as you continue to grow professionally.

Role Purpose

In this role, you'll help one of our life sciences clients modernise their bioinformatics pipelines, migrating legacy workflows to Nextflow, improving portability and ensuring they run reliably across on-premises infrastructure and AWS.

You'll be working on real production systems in a regulated clinical environment, tackling technical challenges that require practical problem-solving and attention to detail.

It's an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern cloud-native approaches to bioinformatics pipeline design and broaden your expertise across the full infrastructure stack, from pipeline logic and storage to compute and cloud.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, developing your technical skills and contributing to meaningful scientific research, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities - Migrate existing bioinformatics pipelines to Nextflow, including pipeline configurations, executables and     input/output (I/O) paths.

  • Build and configure AWS cloud infrastructure to support pipeline execution, including services such as     HealthOmics.
  • Refactor tightly coupled pipeline components using standard configuration formats such as JSON and YAML, improving portability and maintainability.
  • Plan and execute comparative validation runs, contributing to benchmarking reports and validation   documentation.
  • Develop tests to support ongoing pipeline validation and quality assurance.
  • Support the development of monitoring and scheduling applications for cloud-based pipelines.
  • Maintain clear documentation of pipeline changes, configurations and operational procedures.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 6–12 Months - You've made a meaningful contribution to migrating the client's bioinformatics pipelines to Nextflow, supporting reliable execution on AWS infrastructure, including services such as HealthOmics.

  • You've helped complete comparative validation runs and contributed to benchmarking reports and validation documentation.
  • You've developed and implemented tests that support ongoing pipeline validation and quality assurance.
  • You've contributed to the development of monitoring and scheduling applications that support cloud-based pipeline operations.
  • Pipeline changes, configurations and operational procedures are clearly documented, helping the client      confidently manage and maintain their environment.
