Fall Co-op 2026, Data and Computational Sciences

Doctoral candidates join the Data and Computational Sciences co-op program focusing on integration of physics-based simulation techniques with AI methods for application in small molecule lead optimization programs within early-stage drug discovery research. 6-month program from July–December 2026.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct computational experiments to validate hypotheses and develop methodologies
• Perform independent and collaborative work
• Create and execute data analyses
• Present findings formally and informally to colleagues
• Coordinate with departments including DMPK, Medicinal Chemistry, and Structural Biology

Requirements

• Ph.D. students in computational chemistry or related STEM fields preferred
• Scripting experience (Python preferred; Perl, R, or Bash acceptable)
• Strong scientific skills and communication abilities
• Must work full-time onsite in San Diego
• U.S. legal authorization required; no sponsorship available

Preferred: molecular dynamics simulations, chemistry toolkits, free energy calculations, statistics
