Job Description

TheService AI Transformation Teamturns existing document data into AI‑powered services and integrations that streamline workflows across Natera’s clinical, commercial, and operational domains. As aSoftware Engineer III, you will implement features across the stack in a small, highly autonomous squad, applying modern serverless patterns, event streaming, and generative‑AI techniques to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities.

Responsibilities

Core Engineering

  • Implement event‑driven transformation workflows and service integrations withAWS Lambda, Step Functions, S3, EventBridge, SNS/SQS, and Fargate, delivered through Infrastructure‑as‑Code (CDK or Terraform).
  • Leveragecloud‑based foundation‑model APIs:Build AI transformation pipelines that orchestrate prompts, generate embeddings, and implement Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns.
  • Develop internal tooling and dashboards withReact/Next.jsbacked byGraphQL APIs.
  • Integrate withKafkastreams to exchange messages with domain microservices.

Quality & Reliability

  • Contribute toAI‑focused testing—prompt regression suites, hallucination detection, evaluation harnesses—alongside unit, integration, and load tests.
  • Instrument services withCloudWatchandDatadogand participate in CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust observability and dependable releases.

Collaboration & Growth

  • Work closely with senior engineers and Product to break down requirements into well‑scoped technical tasks.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to continually improve team velocity and quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production cloud services.
  • Solid experience withAWS serverlessarchitectures and event‑streaming patterns (Kafka).
  • Proficiency withTypeScript/JavaScript,React/Next.js, andGraphQL.
  • Hands‑on experience withAI Orchestration,guardrails, data validation and quality , prompt engineering, and RAG patterns.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure‑as‑Code (CDK/Terraform).

Preferred / Bonus

  • Experience in healthcare, genomics, or other regulated domains.
  • Exposure to vector search and semantic similarity techniques.
  • Understanding of data privacy and compliance standards such as HIPAA.
